This is a revival project. The chairs were found discarded, restored and lacquered, given new canvas straps to the back and base of the frame and upholstered with a giant purled knitted mohair cushion feather filled and backed with felted wool.

The steamer chair was originally designed for use on steamer ships, a prequel to deck chairs. Designed to fold and hang on the wall when not in use much like the functional minimalism of Shaker furniture.
